Missing: Prompt Friday

Sorry, no short story today. Instead, I come bearing news and a quick update.

I spoke with Legendary last night, and after I do two relatively minor edits to Anomaly, I will be beginning the manager search. Next week. This process went from moving very, very slowly to very, very quickly in the matter of about a half hour.

This being said, I need to work on those edits to make them the best they can be so I can stand a better chance of representation. I also want to finish an outline for the as yet untitled sequel (I'm thinking something along the lines of Anomaly: Rise of the Lycans, the Cobra and That Guy Named Bob!! or Anomaly: More Stuff Exploding. Yes, they need work. But there will definitely be explosions.

Other than that, I also want to get some work done on Harem since I have finished outlining the rest of the novel and just need to sit down and actually write it. Julia is currently on her way to my house also, so that we may have a truly fantastic weekend doing outdoor things. And/Or watching Star Trek and Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Apologies once again, and hopefully, I will have even more good news next Monday!

Question Wednesday

Q: If you had a flamethrower and no consequences, what are the first three things you would burn?

The world would be a much more dangerous place if I was armed with a flamethrower. Also, if I could request a flamethrower mount for my ambulette, that would be great, thanks.
First, strangers and customer service reps who call me ‘sweetheart’ more than once in a 2 hour period of time. Yes, I’m aware that I’m (much) younger than you. However, you do not know me and have no right to use a cute, endearing nickname for me. That is reserved for family, friends and people who potentially hold a modicum of affection for me ( i.e. my boss, who treats me like a daughter).

Second, disease. I understand how particularly obtuse and abstract that is, but you can’t be a superhero armed with a flamethrower without lofty goals. In particular: heart disease and Alzheimer’s/dementia. Not that all disease doesn’t suck, but heart disease is the #1 killer in America, and memory diseases are really hard for me to handle. I can’t imagine what it must be like to not know who you are.

Third, a Crème Brule. Possibly a very tiny Crème Brule in order to really squeeze as much comedy out of the situation as possible.

Sorry, that was a quick answer to a somewhat complex question. At the moment, I have other things on my mind. Namely, the fact that I wired my security deposit for grad school today, and less than five hours later, Legendary finally emailed me back. I knew that was going to happen! That is potentially the most frustrating thing in the world. Anyway, I have a telephone conversation scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30 EST with Legendary to discuss my screenplay. Let’s see what happens…

Status Report Monday

Another Monday, another week of not knowing anything new about my screenplay. I will be calling, yet again this evening to see if I can get even the tiniest amount of information out of them. GRAR.

Otherwise, Harem is going pretty well. I blew past the 55k mark the other day, and am still plugging along rather efficiently. I had to stop briefly to reassess where the story was going, and how things should play out, so I finished outlining that today. I still need to think about where a subplot line or two are going to end up, and if it will end up in the current novel or the potential sequel.

I spent the rest of the day working outside in the rain. There's a hole in the sole of my left shoe, so it stood even less of a chance to stay dry. In the end, both feet were equally wet and pruney. One of my little old ladies has taken to smuggling out desserts from the VA for me every day, which is really sweet.

Not much else is going on beside that. Hopefully, I will be able to update this post later this evening after I call Legendary, but we all see how well that worked out last week.

Also, I'd like to ask a favor: I need questions for Question Wednesday! If you could leave them in the comments below or use the little box in the sidebar or
email me
at nictusablog@gmail.com, that would be great.
